FIELD TRIP
ILCA is pleased to announce a field trip to The Ohio State University, Tuesday afternoon which will offer you the opportunity of two venues. Pick one and enjoy.
ProjectOne at The Ohio State University is a $1Billion expansion and renovation project to the University Medical Center which is the largest commercial construction project in the history of Ohio. Turner Construction and Bovis Land Lease will host our tour and they are ranked among the top five construction managers in healthcare facilities by Modern Healthcare Magazine.
So put on your hard hat, wear safety glasses, and a vest to experience this construction site for yourself. You must be wearing these items to make the tour. The registration form for the Conference will have a check off block if you need this equipment for the tour. You must have closed toed shoes/boots, long pants and no sneakers. The construction site might be muddy so consider bringing a change of shoes or boots.
Two or three safety staff members will be available to escort ILCA members on the job site. We are sorry but no exceptions will be made without the proper attire for your safety.
The ILCA Board requests members are respectful and considerate toward our hosts, but Turner Construction is receptive to safety suggestions and best practices.
The second venue will be the Institute for Ergonomics. The Ohio State University is dedicated to ensuring safe and effective designs or work environments and consumer products. Dr. W. Gary Allread, Program Director for The Ohio State Institute for Ergonomics will be our host.
We will depart for both tours on Tuesday, October 5th, promptly at 1:30PM. We are currently scheduled to leave the University for the Trip back to DoubleTree at 4:00PM and should return to the hotel by 4:30PM.

Invite Your Underwriters!
This year we want to continue something that began a couple of years ago; inviting our underwriters. We have had several underwriters attend the conference over the past few years with very positive feedback. This gives them the opportunity to learn a bit more about the technical side of some of the operations that they insure. A bit of technical background will assist them in understanding reports from their loss control counterparts. Pass the word; invite the underwriters at your company.
Are you a CSP?
Individuals who achieve the Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification must meet recertification requirements every five years through the Continuance of Certification (COC) program. A CSP must achieve 25 points from among ten categories of activities in order to maintain certification.
Simply as a member ILCA you can obtain 1 point per year. This credit comes under the category of Safety Organization/Division Membership.
By attending the ILCA Conference you can earn one credit point under the category for Professional Development Conference Attendance. Serving as an officer of our organization can also earn you a point under the category for Professional Service.
Information obtained from www.bcsp.org. the publication outlining in detail and containing the rules which apply to a CSP.
We are confident you will find ample opportunity to strengthen your skills. Many of our speakers were suggested by members and come highly recommended with many years of experience in their fields and the ability to communicate their topics well.
